Stopped by first time to see about routine service on mechanical watch. I presented him with a 1964 Bulova Aerojet 30 jewel from my collection. He seemed amazed it doesnt use a battery. I explained that I had taken my regular dress watch ( a 1955 IWC cal 89 18kt) and it got scratched because the expert couldnt remove the back. The guy said that dirt accimmulates and prevents the case from opening. I said since my IWC routinely sells in the 2500 range that I suspect someone knows how to service it. He exclaimed that I would never get 2000 for my watch (which is not for sale and not really the subject). At that point I left still looking for someone to do routine service on mechanical watches without a remortgage and without going to snottsdake. Any advice welcome.
