| - I went here through a friends groupon coupon and had a nice time. The treats were good and the company was good. It was nice and cosy.
The only thing is that they forgot to bring the champagne with the sorbet (maybe assuming we didnt want it - they seemed they were rushing).
One thing I noticed was that the hostess wasnt so attentive. I went here May 29 for 6 pm.
Overall the experience was nice. Now.... Ive been to several high teas all over the city : The Ritz (great tiers and yummy savories and sweets), Royal york (yummy savory treats), King Eddie (Oh those lovely scones!), The old english tea house (oh so much it made me full), Ruelo (macaroons! and lovely drink with fruit and wonderful hip loose leaf flavors), The Old Mill (great scenery, pleasant), Tssa tea (super accomodating and so much food and a wonderful amazing assortment of loose leaf teas)...this one, if not with the groupon, would be the most expensive... though it was pleasant and nice.
Since I had another groupon, I was actually looking forward to going again. I tried to call earlier, and was put straight to voice mail. I called the main desk who forwarded me back.... to the voice mail. So I left a message yesterday evening to book for today. No call back today. So I called them and was directed straight to voice mail again. I got the front desk and explianed my situation. Finally she directed me straight to the hostess... who apparently heard my voice mail this morning but didnt get back to me... to tell me they were full tonight. I had to call them. To my disappointment - 4 weeks till the deadline, they are full on the time that I am able to come in. All those weeks! I was only booking for 2 people.
It seems they dont want to honour the groupon or are hesitant to.
I told her that there is a dead line and that that was the only time in the week I can come in. "we'll take your name and call you if there are cancellations" - so just wait and wait until the deadline? "you can also use it as face value after the deadline and apply it to a regular high tea visit" - (thats high tea for one person not two) why would I pay full price when the purpose of groupon is a coupon? AND their high tea doesnt stand out in comparison to the rest.
All I can say is that their customer service is not up to par - considering how well established they are. Quite non accomodative and non attentive to - simply answering the phones and getting back to you.
Thats all just my opinion of course.
--- edit - just read some of the reviews - it appears that the hostess leaves much to be desired about this place.
