| - We came here on a Monday for dinner. The place was a ghost town- maybe a total of 8 within the entire restaurant. We were greeted, upon seating, by our server who was currently in training (looked to be in high school). I was surprised to not see any senior staff with him throughout the night. It would have been nice to have been walked through the menu as this was our first time here. No biggie- we reviewed the menu ourselves.
We ordered a Wicked Weed beer and a glass of wine, but they ended up being out of the beer we ordered so we just opted for water and a coke. We started our meals with a ceasar and wedge salad (+$4.50 to add to your meal). I got the wedge and it was great. I loved the dressing and the gorgonzola cheese was super tasty. The ceasar salad was served as 'deconstructed', which I'll never understand why they do that anywhere (besides a wedge obviously!), but my husband said it was good. Both salads were large servings for a "side salad". We also got bread and a bruschetta style dipping sauce that was tasty.
My husband was in the mood for chicken fettuccini alfredo, but didn't see it on the menu. We asked our server and he said they could make it for him ($22.50). I got the chicken tomato basil pasta ($18). I guess I should of known better, but my pasta was actual 'tomato basil fettuccine'. I thought the sauce (cognac cream sauce) would have tasted like tomato basil. There wasn't much tomato or basil flavor within the dish at all, however it was good- just not what I was expecting. My husband's alfredo was OK, but for $23 we just expected more flavor and creaminess to it.
Overall, not sure if I would be the first to recommend or jump to go back to Luciano's, which is a disappointment because we were really looking forward to it. Maybe it was because we went on a Monday and it was so quiet and awkward in the place, or because we ordered the wrong thing- but we didn't have much guidance. I know I'm a Yelper and should do my research before going into restaurants, but I also expect a higher level of service from nicer, established places in Charlotte.
