| - This place is kind of a mixed bag. I went here to get my cat neutered because it was close to home, and even though it's expensive. (To be fair, all vets downtown seem to be really expensive.) The estimate they gave me was really high, because it included a ton of tests and things that were totally unnecessary. We opted out of them and brought the price down a good bit.
They were really friendly and my cat came through the procedure totally fine. While the cat wasn't happy (would you be happy if your testicles were removed without your permission?), the staff was friendly and really seemed to like and care about him.
However, my cat has gingivitis, and the vet recommended a specific brand of cat food that, surprising nobody, is only available at vet clinics like theirs. I told her that we've started brushing his teeth, but she said it would be better to start feeding him the food. After some research on my own, I've come to two conclusions. 1) I'm not convinced that dental care cat food actually does its job. 2) The brand they sell (as well as other dental care cat foods I've managed to find) doesn't have the healthiest ingredients. The brand they sell, specifically, is very heavy in corn, rice, and soy, all of which are just junk for cats. The brand I currently give them is much, much healthier, and I think it's bad advice to tell me to stop brushing their teeth and switch to less healthy food instead.
In conclusion, I'd bring my cats to this place for things like being neutered or spayed, or if I had some kind of emergency, but I don't feel like they always have my cats' best interest at heart.
