  • Four Points by Sheraton: Meadowvale (a more appropriate name would be "The Pill Hill Four Points") has provided one of the better experiences I've had in a hotel in recent history. There's nothing particularly special about this Four Points really. The hotel itself is similar to other places, but it does have a slightly modern upscale feel to it, which I suppose makes sense since they're trying to create the semblance of an upscale four star hotel for travelers. Almost everything about this Four Points was copacetic: + It's a nice place. Nothing magical. Simple, clean; a lot of straight lines and neutral colors. The rooms aren't tiny/cramped. + The housekeeping staff is on point + The internet is reasonably fast. Not great for streaming videos but enough to do what you usually do (unless what you usually do is stream videos). + The TV is fairly large, and there's cable (I got hooked on Big Brother Canada... and other shows that end with the word "Canada"). + The bathroom is spacious. The showers are always hot (although it would be nice if you could control the shower head. It's awkward turning it on and then doing the weird jump out of the way motion so you don't get hit with the initial jet of cold water). + The surrounding area, which is full of business buildings is very quiet, yet it's close to the highway. + They didn't charge me when I asked for some toothpaste (because I forgot mine), and they offered to bring it up to me. Other places have charged me, and I had to go get it like a poor person. + There was a Tim Hortons fairly close by. For an American obsessed with something that you Canadians may take for granted, this is kind of a big deal. + The price on Hotwire was $60ish a night. You can pay just as much and get significantly crappier accommodations, or have to pay significantly more for similar accommodations. This last point alone is worth 3 of the 4 stars. Ignore Mrs. M's ridiculous complaints: No valet? No safe to store valuables? Low thread count? Terrible pillows? Does the M stand for Madonna? Because otherwise, you need to calm yourself. What a diva. Also, ~$60 is a high price point? Apparently a diva, and a cheapskate.
