Staff gets a 5; management barely gets a 1! The service was terrific and it's a nice atmosphere but our experience was undercut by poor treatment by the management. We (a party of 4) stopped by on a Monday night after eating dinner at Beauty and Essex. I explained that we were just there for an after dinner drink and requested one of the tables on the outside of the lounge area. There were four of these tables - all vacant - with reserved signs on them. I was told that these tables were not available, and we were assigned one of the interior tables. For the hour we spent with our drinks (which exceeded $100 with tip), we watched only one of the four "reserved" tables become occupied - and even that table was used for less than 15 minutes.
I really think it's bad style to be stingy with prime tables - particularly on a slow night/slow time. I have been in this situation (i.e., come into a bar our lounge that has several open reserved tables) and it is much more satisfying when something reasonable can be negotiated. I'm not sure what kind of image they are attempting to project, but I can't believe it serves them to protect these alleged reserved tables as they sit empty.
