My lease on my 2014 Grand Cherokee was coming to an end so I went to Desert 215 to see if it was worth buying a new 2016 Grand Cherokee or doing a buyout of my existing lease. After looking at a few sticker prices I decided to buyout my existing lease, Beth (salesperson) informed me that she could handle the buyout as well as the Maxcare warrantee I wanted to purchase. She then told me that Chrysler Capital would not give her the buyout price until my last two lease payments were made. I found this a little weird but made my last two payments anyway. Beth told me the buyout price was $32,558.00 and an additional $5,000.00 for the maxcare warrantee. Beth then informed me that for "Safety" reasons they must do a full inspection and smog my car.
What Beth was actually attempting to do by having me payoff my lease early and smoging my Jeep was treat it like I turned in my Jeep and was purchasing it like I was purchasing any car off their lot vs. a buyout of my lease. I ended up calling Chrysler Capital myself and paid $27,731.72 to buyout my lease. As far as the maxcare warrantee that Beth said would be $5,000.00, I purchased it on the Mopar website for $3,800.00 (12 interest free monthly payments). STAY AWAY!!!
