| - I remember we visited this restaurant more than a year ago and whatever we ordered was decent, (my memory plays tricks on me). Well, we decided to go there on 4th of July, and it was a rude awakening for me. I don't know how one person can possibly eat their appetizer and a main dish. The prices are not cheap (for this kind of a restaurant), so Brio Tuscan Grill tries to please people by serving non-human portions.
Our friend ordered one of their salads ($15!) - it was such a disturbing mess on that plate. I think they put every vegetable and fruit they had in the kitchen. Then I received my bruschetta - it was ok, but too much of everything on top plus I would prefer less balsamic vinegar. If you ever had bruschetta in rural Italy, I can tell you that this was not even remotely close to real Italian bruschetta. Of course, I got 5 big pieces for an appetizer. My spicy shrimp with eggplant was drenched in oil and eggplant was too bready. I ordered it instead of a main course, but couldn't finish it. My husband got himself lasagna. Ok, this was the final straw. Come on, you could feed at least 3 people (and I'm being modest). Lasagna was just ok, but I couldn't stand to look at the portion and the sauce, which came straight from a can.
What is going on? Why are they oversizing everything? I felt as if I was an animal brought to a feeding before being slaughtered. Apparently, it is just me, because the restaurant was full, and it looks like a lot of people on Yelp really enjoyed it. I won't spend my money there anytime soon, but if you're willing to give it a try, share your main dish or expect to take it with you (considering you like it)
On the positive side, the decor is pretty and their booths are comfortable. My husband really liked their artichoke and spinach dip. The service was nothing to rave about.
Btw, what kind of Italian menu has lobster bisque on it? I thought lobster bisque was 100% French
