| - I wish I could give The Halal Guys (Toronto) more stars, but I just can't. While the experience wasn't horrible, it just wasn't the same as Halal Guys in NYC.
My visit here was around noon on a weekday. That was the mistake because the lineup was all the way around the building almost to the Wellesley Station entrance. Luckily, I had a friend who got there just as rush was starting and was at the front of the line who ordered food for the two of us. (Thank you Erica U.).
If you've ever been to the NYC street cart chain, you wait because the carts are small and can only cook so much food at a time, so the lineup was justified. This Toronto location is an actual restaurant with sit down areas and all, cooking surfaces are at least 2x the size, so you'd think the food comes quicker. Kind of, but because they take debit and credit as well as cash, line up takes a while.
I feel the restaurant regulates serving sizes because I got the same combo plate as the last time I visited NYC and NYC combo plate was much more full, whereas the one we got this time, it was more rationed. The taste is fairly close.
If the lineup continues to stay this long, I think I'll just wait until the next time I get back to NYC for my next Halal Guys fix.
