| - Hands down, this has to be one of the best experiences at a dental office I've ever had.
From the moment I got on the phone with Shauna to set-up my initial visit I knew I made a great choice. Shauna was extremely helpful, courteous and upbeat. In a matter of minutes I was already placed in their system and set-up with an appointment a few days later for a 1:30 p.m.. I have to admit, I had been uninsured prior to this and had not seen a dentist in well over 3 years *yikes* and as such I was nervous/terrified of what my experience would be like, and what my results would be.
Upon arrival, I filled out 3-4 pages of paperwork that had already been pre-filled by Shauna, making the process much faster. Around 1:27 p.m. I was whisked into the back by Maria who performed my dental x-rays and even took photos of my teeth. She was super sweet and easy to talk too which calmed my nerves slightly. I guess everyone had read my chart and knew I was slightly hesitant about showing up and made every effort to make it a painless expereince. After my x-rays/photos were done, I was placed in a very clean and bright room (they have windows!) and waited for Dr. Michelle Mahour. Dr. Mahour was just as nice as anybody else I encountered that day, and due to my anxiety and past experiences, made me feel at ease and assured me everything would be fine. Turns out, she was right! I only needed two fillings replaced, and other than that, my teeth were fine and all my stress had been for nothing! She scheduled a cleaning for that same Thursday, as well as a session the following Monday to have my fillings replaced. Also, she prescribed me Lorazepam for the fillings since I was so nervous that first day.
That Thursday I was in and out within an hour and back to work. That following Monday I came in for my 9:00 a.m. fillings and only spent 40 minutes in the back, meanwhile, I was able to watch a movie and relax while she replaced my fillings. She did excellent work and again, made the experience less stressful by talking me through it.
I would highly recommend this office to anyone, especially those with phobias or who have recently been able to get back into a dental office after an extended hiatus! I was not made to feel ashamed or careless for my inability to do so, and was instead treated respectfully and in a very dignified manor. Thank you to each and everyone at the office for your kind words and your dedication to your practice, and most importantly for making my first encounter a positive one. I will be looking forward to another cleaning in 6 months =D
