  • Usually use the Enterprise in Ft Mill, but was cheaper at this location via Orbitz, so we decided to give this one a try. We rented an intermediate SUV for a long trip due to concern our only vehicle wouldn't make it, and needed the height of an SUV , so despite the additional cost to the trip, made the reservation. Imagine our delight when they upgraded us at no cost to a Mercedes! Here's where it goes to hell in a hand basket, so to speak. We pick it up, and the SUV was so low to the ground, it was like a station wagon hatchback. No headroom, leg room or trunk to speak of for a 10 hr trip. Back issues was another reason we rented an SUV and not a sedan, and this was actually worse than a sedan. Anyway, not wanting to seem ungrateful, and being asked to sign all the emailed "papers" outside in 95 degree heat, we took it with unease. We left at 6 am the next morning, and promptly an hour and a half later, the Mercedes broke down. Yes, people. And no help from roadside with Enterprise other than to say we would have to drive to the nearest one if we could make it or wait 3-5 hrs for a tow truck. Luckily we happened to pull off on an exit 2.5 miles from an office in Thomasville but had to wait til after 9 am when they opened. Sure they had a vehicle for us. A Hyundai Accent. Yes, people. From an SUV (supposedly) to that. Repack car. On to Greensboro to switch it out for an SUV for the trip. Repack car again. Props to the girls in Thomasville and Greensboro for helping us quickly and transferring luggage without complaining! Now driving a Chevy Traverse. Along the way reached out to the Pineville office that originally rented us the car. Some resistance in taking responsibility for the fiasco, some discrepancy in the car system saying it was 7500 miles overdue for service right before the engine light came on and it became undrivable, and their assertion that service was up to date. Anyway, waited 3 days for the manager to call me back, and finally got tired of waiting and called him. Now the good...Morgan the branch manager listened to my frustrations at missing an event due to the breakdown, and the toll the 17 hr trip, that should have been 10, took on my husband and me with our medical issues. After discussing how to make it right, and wanting to give good customer service after an unsatisfactory encounter, he could not have been nicer. We settled it to my satisfaction, he kept his word, as did I, and I would give them another try. Any issues, ask for Morgan. A stand up guy.
