| - My husband and I decided to have our anniversary dinner at Gallagher's. Since we were staying at New York New York, I called down to the concierge to make a reservation for our dinner and let them know we were celebrating an anniversary. They said the reservation was made and all I had to do was show up.
We show up at our reservation time only to find out that our reservation wasn't actually made. Not sure if that's the concierge's fault or it was lost in the mix at the actual restaurant. Either way, I was a little annoyed.
Our server was Bryan, and he was great. He was very descriptive with the menu options we had questions about and was open about letting us know what his personal favorites were. My husband went all out and ordered the New York New York which included their dry aged strip steak and a whole lobster. I went for my usual 8oz filet mignon with a side of mashed potatoes (potato puree is what they called it). As a starter, we decided on the fried calamari.
A trio of bread was brought to our table, which is always nice. Their olive bread was different, but a good different. It had that briney flavor, but it wasn't too overpowering. Almost immediately, our calamari came out. It was perfectly crispy and flavorful, but a little on the chewy side. A few minutes later, our entrees came out. My filet was ordered medium and came out more of a medium well. Not juicy at all. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly, but the lobster tasted like it was left in the water for maybe a minute too long...again, a little chewy.
Service was great, but the quality of the food wasn't what as we expected.
