| - I'll start by remarking on how well-organized the event is. Parking is very well-controlled, with attendants flagging cars into spaces one by one. I haven't ever found long lines at the ticket booth. Once you're in, they have maps of the grounds and schedules of shows. There's so much going on, and the property is so huge, it's nearly impossible to take in everything in one weekend. The food is great - I always get the fish & chips, which is easy to eat without utensils - but there are never quite enough tables. The best entertainers are the Tortuga Twins, Pirate Shantyman & Bonnie Lass, and Don Juan & Miguel. Zilch the Storyteller and Hey Nunnie Nunnie are funny but they repeat the same routines year after year. The best weekend to go is the weekend closest to Halloween because you'll see so many great costumes. Some of the comedy shows are not suitable for very young children, not just for racy content, but they wouldn't understand a lot of the humor, anyway. The schedule indicates which shows are more adult-oriented, which makes it easy for parents as long as they can FREAKIN' READ! At every grown-up show, at least one family will get up and leave indignantly because they didn't read the $@#& schedule or the rating sign on the stage. There are plenty of other activities that kids will enjoy, like rides and petting zoos.
