  • A must for both the Pittsburgh native and visitor. It took me several years to discover what my friends who attended college in Oakland already knew: go to Dave & Andy's and have one of the best damn ice cream cones ever. I finally went when I was working for UPMC Corporate Communications the next block over a couple years back, and I had the most delicious cone of cake batter ice cream. Apparently I was lucky, because it's not unusual for them to run out of popular flavors. One of my biggest kudos to this Pittsburgh institution is for one of the owners who accomodated me when I requested ice cream, toppings, and supplies for the ice cream social my boss had me put together for our department. :-)
