| - My wife and I got a free two night stay as a promotion to allow them to give us the timeshare presentation. We already own a timeshare with a different company, but I really wanted to have a free hotel in Vegas. We haven't been there in 8 & 12 years respectively.
After reading reviews on yelp, I was prepared for the worst, however, it turned out to be really nice. Other than a few small issues, it was a really good time and a really nice place to stay.
Issues: the instructions directed us to first check in at the silverton hotel to set up our timeshare presentation time before checking into the room at the grandview. These hotels are about a five minute drive apart, so no big deal. The problem was that the person that should have been working the reception deck at the silverton was not there. I gave the customary 10mins wait, then just proceeded to check in at the grandview.
Pros: 1) the receptionist at the front desk of the grandview was very nice. I simply asked for a nice room and she said "ok, I'll put you in one of the newer buildings." 2) the room was very nice. It was spacious, clean, and had its own full kitchen, laundry, and jacuzzi tub. 3) the timeshare presentation was just like any other, but I informed the rep that we already own and there would be 0% chance of us buying right at the start. He was very nice and understanding. We still had to do the presentation process, but that's because it's his job and if we don't go through it he will not get paid, so it's ok. He gave us the quick version and didn't try to browbeat us or press the issues to hard. I respect him for that, plus the apple fritters they had to snack on we're amazing...;) when the time came to pass us on to the closer, he too was respectful of our intentions not to buy. He did point out some possible options we could buy to use with our current timeshare, so that was nice.
Cons: 1) the grandview is about 7 miles down the road from the main Vegas strip. It has the south point casino right next door though, so it's not that big of a deal. Plus, they gave us some coupon books for the south point that saved us money on food and even included a free $20 voucher for slots. 2) I highly recommend you read the reviews about RCI on BBB and consumer reviews. The reviews for that company look very bad.
Overall, I would happily stay at the hotel again. I wouldn't buy a timeshare though. Attached is the price sheet so you know what they're asking...
