| - A friend referred me to Dollar General a few months ago. I like the store, but the name may be a bit deceiving; this is not a dollar store.
The original reason I came here was to buy eggs. When they are on sale, eggs are $1 a dozen, normally $1.49/doz. So, even when they aren't on sale, eggs are cheap. As I have discovered, other items go on sale with regularity with pretty amazing discounts. As always, check expiration dates. I haven't had a problem with this, but the inexpensive pricing has to be coming from somewhere.
The store is usually very clean. There is a one aisle with a final clearance set of shelves that is usually a mess. The stuff in that area reminds me of this movie line, "Push the fish, it's about to turn." They also have a seasonal area for sale priced items of the upcoming holiday/event.
Checkout can sometimes be bothersome since there's usually only one check out line when I come in.
One last thing, is shopping at night. For some strange reason, this parking lot seems exceptionally dark at night. Maybe it is the trees or weak lighting. IDK why, I just know that it seems creepy. But, so do most F&E stores' parking areas.
