| - I lived at San Remo Apartments for 2 years. The first year was non-eventful as my daughter and I shared an apartment and I had little to no interaction with the office Staff. My problems with San Remo began when I decided to move into a different apartment. At the time of move in Scott was the Property Manager.
What they did right:
1. The lease for the shares apartment with was not quite expired,so they helped us execute paperwork that took me off of the lease, making it possible for me to move into another apartment.
2. They had a fast turn-around of approval based on my individual credit and income.
3. The office Staff was always available to answer any of my questions and assessed by concerns with the appropriate action, the majority of the time.
4. When Scott was the Manager, I never had any personal conflicts with the office Staff. They seemed to be cordial and professional.
What they did wrong:
1. Day 1 of move in was pushed back and I had additional wait time. When the apartment was finally ready, I drove to the complex on my lunchbreak to sign the leasing papers and to pick up the keys. The carpet cleaner and maintenance were still in the apartment, meaning they procrastinated in their efforts to get the apartment move in ready.
2. I wasn't able to move in until after work, meaning after 6pm, when I started to do the walk thru, I immediately noticed roaches everywhere, including the refrigerator. The microwave door was broken. The next morning, I immediately told the office Staff and requested to speak with Scott. He and Patricia were in attendance in his office when he apologized and said sorry, he dropped the ball. He was aware about the bug problem and that the issue was building wide, Patricia commented that they know the source of the infestation and that they are working on the problem. For 6 months, every other Wed, the apartment complex paid to have an exterminator spray, bomb, with little to no effect. We still had a roach infestation. I have a son with severe asthma and I told them it was unacceptable.
3. Fast forward to a new Property Manager. I explained my continuing concern about the roaches, she asked what had been done, I told her and advised her to check the past 7-8 month pest control log and she will see where I have consistently been on the list. I requested to be moved to a new apartment, she said that generally, it's not done but she would speak to her Supervisor and get back with me. She never followed up. I went into the office after a week+ for an answer, it was Patricia who told me that their policy is not to move tenants into a new apartment once they have a known pest issue. I reminded Patricia that the past issue was there before I moved in, so it's their issue, not mine. She acknowledged that but reiterated the policy.
4. Non-professional Staff. Neighbors were always complaining about the office Staff making comments about the tenants, the neighbor below me, Asia or would tell myself and another neighbor Monica about details of bedbugs, evictions and other tenant realated stories as told to her by the office Staff. She specifically names Paticia Acosta as the one who was telling her and stated that Patricia use to come to her apartment to sleep on the couch during lunchtime. She also told me how the maintenance person said that our apartment was the cause of the roaches ( see 1st paragraph) because we were so dirty. Because it was heresay and I refuse to stoop low, I decided to write a review and include it instead of wasting my time with he said, she said.
5. Post move out, 2(weeks or less) someone has already moved into apt 7-206. That apartment is indeed infested with roaches, the cabinets, refrigerator and all the appliances are effected. If you are a the current tenant in this apartment, and they tell you that they had no idea that there were roaches, please use this review as proof that they did know. They bombed once after I moved out and sadly moved someone else in.
I moved and had to throw away all of my furniture, most clothes, ect.
