Went to the store to buy a child's violin. My offspring is obviously horrendously not talented, has terrible technique in every regard, and obviously presents as a child who will never ever "get it" with this instrument (she studies it for other reasons, not because she has any ability) -- but the store staff were extremely professional and patient and accommodating and truly seemed to want to help her find a good match.
A true testament to their professionalism is the fact that even though I was quite ready and willing to purchase a nice instrument, my child was just in-between sizes, and they ultimately recommended that we rent the slightly smaller size until she could comfortably fit the slightly larger violin. They were even happy to loan us the larger size for a trial to have the teacher assess the situation and weigh in on the decision.
As a mother who knows her child is truly in the lowest cadre of the violinists who frequents this store, words cannot express the appreciation one feels to have salespeople who earnestly try to help and do not brush you off or dismiss you despite the circumstances. Kudos to their professionalism and dedication.
