| - "Little kid in a candy store" is an understatement....
I was really in shock walking in here. My brother had told me about it for years but I never found time to just look around for candy. When I want candy, it's usually... (RIGHT NOW!) not (drive to Parma and hunt through a warehouse). However, hearing my dad talk about a candy bar he used to buy all the time when he was a kid made me wonder if B.A.S. carried this nostalgic item.
My boyfriend and I made a day of it and decided to put candy in everyone's Christmas stockings this year. Oh...and buy some stuff for us too obviously. I have to be honest and say that the novelty wore off a bit when I discovered the prices were the same, if not higher, than candy at your average grocer. Still, I was determined to find this mysterious candy bar. I looked high and low for a Necco chocolate bar (not the wafers), with four different fillings in one bar. No luck. Finally I asked someone and they obviously had no idea what I was talking about. I was beginning to think my dad was the only one who had purchased this candy bar in the 50's for a nickle. Finally some kid came over and told me they were called Sky bars and they were sold out. If I hadn't scoured that warehouse high and low looking for this damn chocolate, I would have hung my head in defeat and walked out the door, never to return due to severe discouragement. Alas! I HAD scoured that store and was certain I had seen a box of Sky bars somewhere. So, after another 10 to 15 minutes of backtracking, I found 3 cases of Sky Bars. Know your inventory, kid! I informed him that they in fact were not sold out and purchased my candy. We walked out of there with a full grocery bag for $30. Not bad.
Even though the prices weren't amazing and I was given false information about my quest, I walked out of here feeling victorious. Watching my dad pull that candy bar out of his stocking and the smile grow on his face gave this store it's stars. It was pretty awesome.
