| - The pros first: The people at ILKB are extremely welcoming and friendly, outgoing, and fun. They've obviously tried to hire high-energy, competent, and well-informed people to both manage the desk and the workout. Also, the workout makes the best and most efficient use of time I've ever seen -- literally, there is not one wasted moment. The workout is intense and demanding, and even though you might be in good cardio shape already, you'll definitely push yourself there. They have a great sense of energy, partly because they often have two instructors who basically play off of each other, yelling "BURPEEEEES!" at random times, and so on. Very good sense of keeping a group energy going.
The cons: Clearly, if you're really interested in boxing, you need to go elsewhere. It's very clear from the combinations they put together that some of the instructors are definitely experienced in boxing and martial arts -- but it's also clear that some simply aren't. This is a place you go to burn fat, not to learn to be the next Ronda Rousey. The other issue is this: it is very, very regimented and regulated. Every single day has exactly the same format: 25 minute warmup, 7 rounds of 3 minutes of activity/one minute of explanation, and the rest of the time is partner work and stretching. I absolutely concede that there are some people out there who would love to have this very regulated, predictable routine. For me, it makes me dread coming to class because I know exactly what's going to happen and I need more variety. As others have mentioned, the prices are outrageous, even with their deals.
All in all, I think the best deal for most people is the ten-class Groupon. Try it. If you like the predictability after the ten days, it might really be for you.
