  • My friend Justin L. is a regular at the Cosmopolitan, and he was kind enough to share his comps with me and my family when we came into Vegas for the weekend. We got into Wicked Spoon with two-for-one coupons and line passes for Sunday lunch--a great deal, and one of the best buffet meals I've had in town. Many thanks to you, Justin. We were seated right away, and a waiter took our drink order. I got a bottomless Bloody Mary for an $13. It was quite good, spicy and satisfying, and our waiter replaced it without prompting and without comment, whenever it got close to empty. This waiter was great, by the way. He didn't have to do very much for us, and he still managed to come off as wonderfully pleasant and attentive. Or maybe he just bribed me with those fast booze refills. My favorite thing about buffets is that you can start eating immediately, and as soon as we secured our table and ordered our drinks, we hit the various stations. The spread was diverse and extravagant, and I filled up plates in a few different rounds. My husband and I have very different palates, and it was funny how little overlap there was between our plates. He got stuff like carved beef and macaroni and, good lord, bread, while I created a monstrosity of a lunch made up of stir-fried noodles, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, sushi, curried beef, curried lamb, gnocchi, and on and on and on. I thought the presentation was pretty appetizing across the board, with a lot of dishes individually portioned in attractive little containers. Definitely a step up, even visually, from your standard buffet. The food was also quite tasty, most of it not memorable but very good to eat. The bone marrow was probably the highlight, and I understand why it's the thing to get at Wicked Spoon. Where else can you have AYCE bone marrow? When we went, it came with a lovely kimchi glaze, and it was delicious. I filled up on savory stuff and mostly ignored the dessert table (buffet pastries are never as good as they look, and always make me feel bad), but went straight for the gelato station. Great gelato. I had some strawberry balsamic and pistachio gelato, and both hit the spot. I would've been perfectly happy if I'd gotten this gelato at its own shop. I don't think I'd wait in a huge line and pay full boat to get into Wicked Spoon (I'd probably do one or the other), but I enjoyed my lunch and thought it was a great value at half price. If you're looking for the full Vegas buffet experience, this place must be one of your best options.
