| - My local haunt, and favorite bar in town. This place is like Cheers, everyone knows everyone and have no problem striking up a conversation with anyone. The drinks are cheap and the pours are heavy. There's pool, a handful of arcade games, including pinball, and even a ring toss game on their amply sized smoking patio. And its worth noting that during the winter they have a heater on the patio, and during the summer months they have a swamp cooler cooling the space down.
They often have event nights, like Shadowplay every third Saturday of the month, its an 80's dance party that often has a theme. Guarenteed to enjoy some awesome people watching. Wednesday's are Uptown with changing DJs spinning everything from 90's rap to current hipster faves. Friday and Saturday they often have bands playing rockabilly, covers, rock, punk, and even metal on occasion. Sunday is free pool all day, an open jam session in the evening until 9pm when they have karaoke. Both Sunday and Monday have karaoke until close.
Every night of the week, you'll likely run into Maria, the tamale lady who sells tamales and burritos from the back of her car (trust me they're incredibly good). On certain nights expect to find delicious home made BBQ being sold right outside the gate, try the cobler, you'll thank me.
So whether its a packed dance floor with spinning tunes, live music from local and out of town bands, belting your heart out to some Morriset, or just a cheap drink and a friendly game of pool, Rips has it all.
