Not a great experience. I have rented many cars from many car rental companies but this one was by far the worst experience ever...
We reserved s full size SUV a week ahead of time to be picked up on a Tuesday morning at 8:30 am. I arrived at about 8:20am and was told by the "manager" that he didn't have any full size SUV's in yet but was waiting for them to be delivered. I can understand there being one issue, no rental company is perfect. So after almost an hour the SUV arrived. The "manager" without even looking at the condition of the vehicle did the paperwork for the rental. After finishing the paperwork we walked out to the SUV to look for damage, the outside of the vehicle was fine but I noticed the gas tank was a quarter low on gas. The "manager" said "oh-well I will remember when you return it, just return it with about that much gas." So after that I loaded my family on board and we discovered what a real disaster the vehicle was on the inside. The seats, the floor and every other surface in the car was dirty. The floors were black from all the dirt. There was a empty McDonalds french fry container on the floor in the very back seating area and there was also a full bag of chips...unreal. This vehicle obviously was never inspected on return. I don't just blame Avis for this I blame the PIGS who rented the vehicle before us, how can you treat someone else's property with that much disrespect. I know Avis didn't but they should charge the previous renters for the mess that was left. So after throwing away the garbage and cleaning the dirty seats we finally got on our way, only 90 minutes later than planned.
So I had a two day rental but returned the rental late that 2nd night after Avis had closed. I followed the return instructions for after hours, locked the vehicle and dropped the keys in the key return. So I returned it WEDNESDAY evening. On SATURDAY very early morning I receive a voice mail from the "manager" and he is asking where the keys were...okay so I returned the vehicle on Wednesday and it took him until Saturday to realize the keys were not there but the SUV was sitting 30 feet from his office...huh? So I attempted to call him back but his number continuously was transferred to the main Avis Customer Service line. They said he must be forwarding his calls. So by the time I was able to drive over there, they were closed. So Monday morning I drive over, because again I can't reach the "manager" by phone. First thing he says when he sees me "oh you should have just called"....really. So after explaining to him that I had dropped off the car on Wednesday he says no problem and I leave.
I then check my credit card and notice my two day rental was charged for three days plus a late drop off fee. I called Avis and they reversed the extra charges.
To say I will NEVER rent from this Avis location or most likely Avis ever again is an understatement. The "manager" is incompetent and clearly has no idea on how to manage a car rental company.
