| - This was my first time at this venue. Came to the Chelsea on 10/21/16 to see Pet Shop Boys. My boyfriend and I got last minute tickets from someone. We called in advance and asked what time PSB was actually taking the stage. We were told 8:30pm. Let me just say that trying to go anywhere on the strip on a Friday night is a complete s*%t show. Trying to get inside the parking garage of the Chelsea was no easy task. Cops everywhere. Absolute madness! The entrance to the garage itself is very poorly designed and frustrating. We arrived at 8:00pm. Not too bad for a spontaneous decision to buy tickets from a random stranger last min. We got parked and then began what seemed like a 3 mile journey, that included going up in an elevator and up 3 escalators and through a big maze, to get to the venue. What is this place?... Jack and the beanstalk?!? Poorly designed!
Staff seemed nice but clueless. Our tickets were for a general admission standing only section on the 3rd floor... a.k.a nose bleed. So they over sell this area and unless you get there very early, you're basically not going to be able to see the stage. I'm small so I managed to wedge myself in a somewhat ok spot to see. The Pet Shop Boys didn't take the stage until after 9:00pm. It was probably closer to 9:30pm. I read this same complaint, in other Yelp reviews, about other people being told the wrong start time. This really pisses me off because I would have really loved to have not had to rush, right after working 10 hours, to get to this show. There wasn't much to see either since my tickets were the worst possible in the entire venue (but they were dirt cheap).
When we left, the parking lot dumped us out on Las Vegas Blvd. . . back to the s*%t show. Cops everywhere, paddy wagons, and a sea of drunk tourists.
One star for the acoustics. Sound quality was good.
One star for the modern fancy decor.
One more star because nothing terrible happened.
-two stars because the box office gave the incorrect start time and overall I just don't like this venue too much. It's hard to get to, not convenient.
