| - Tao did not not disappoint. The atmosphere was wonderful, but more importantly- the food was phenomenal. We ordered a bunch of appetizers so that we could have a taste of everything. The most memorable food items consisted of:
-The shishito peppers and mustard sauce. Amazing taste and not overly spicy.
-The chicken satay and peanut sauce. They were so good that we ordered a second plate.
-The veggie rolls. They were big and very filling. Definitely not a standard small egg roll that you find at a PF Chang's.
-The molten cake and salted caramel. The caramel ice cream definitely made this desert worth it.
The restaurant was also kind enough to bring out a huge fortune cookie dessert in honor of my birthday which was also amazing. It was filled with a chocolate and vanilla mousse.
In terms of the service, our server was extremely friendly and attentive. He helped us pick out our alcoholic beverages, which again were beyond our expectations.
Everything was great except the following:
1.) There was a man (possibly the manager or some wannabe security guard) who went around with a microphone/headpiece giving updates on table availability. He made us feel extremely uncomfortable and rushed. I understand that this restaurant is in high demand and busy. However, we felt like the experience wasn't enjoyable because we were being pushed out so another party could sit down. This gentleman AKA wannabe security guard approached our table and asked us how our food was, BUT he didn't do it in a way that made it sound like he actually cared about us or the food. He constantly kept hovering over our table and I found myself annoyed. Also, keep in mind that we were only at the restaurant for one hour.
2.) The bus boys kept sweeping up food remnants off the floor every five minutes (when honestly there was nothing to even clean up). It was excessive and made sitting down unpleasant. No offense, but when I'm eating, I really don't want someone sweeping next to me or even underneath me. If you want to get technical, those dust particles are traveling in the air each time you sweep. Therefore, they could have quite possibly made it onto our plate. From a sanitary perspective, wait until people leave the table.
On top of that, the bus boys kept clearing our table when we weren't even finished with our food. At one point, we snapped at one of the guys as he was about to take our plate that we weren't finished with.
A word to management, stop having your guys go around rushing people to finish their food. I really liked the food, but quite frankly- the constant hovering, sweeping and clearing of the table made me not want to revisit this location. It shouldn't be about how many people you can cram into your restaurant. If we wanted fast food, we would have gone to McDonald's.
