  • I had a blast at Yelp Fit Club's CycleSouth workout! The studio is adorable. I love the nice, clean bathrooms with lots of space. The plastic bags for sweaty clothes were a great touch. I hate putting sweaty clothes back in my bag, potentially letting them touch clean stuff. Before we went, I was bummed to read that they don't provide spin shoes. Years ago when I used to do spin class, they never provided shoes. But, in recent years, I've come to expect it. However, once I got there I was pleasantly surprised to see they actually DO have shoes. As they are still a new studio, they are still building their shoe collection so they don't want to promise it yet - as they are still collecting certain sizes, etc. Fair enough. The music was fantastic. Our instructor was so good and motivating. My friends and I had a blast. The only reason I'm offering this workout 4 stars instead of 5 is this: they took out the calculator that records rpms/distance/etc. The reason for this is that it's called "beat-based cycling", which I wasn't familiar with but it basically means you cycle to the beat of the music. About halfway through class, after struggling to make sure my feet were doing this right, it hit me: I do ALL spin classes to the beat of the music, whether my stats are being counted or not. In fact, I do all workouts to the beat of the music. So this concept is really overthinking it a little. Once I stopped thinking about it and just did what I always do, I enjoyed the class much more. I would have appreciated the chance to also have my numbers be counted, simply because it's a way to view my own progress. We don't have to race other cyclists or anything like in other classes if CycleSouth doesn't want to, but if I went regularly I'd want to know that I was improving, and counting distance, etc., is a great way to do it. All that said, I would definitely go back. They have great merch too -- I am still thinking about some of those capris that are for sale! I want!
