| - If you're looking for a respectful car dealer who tells it to you straight and makes you feel comfortable, then I would NOT recommend going to Discount Auto at 506 W Broadway.
Let me begin this review by saying that I had found a car online, read the car fax to make sure everything seemed okay, called ahead about the car, and then went to the dealer. I wasn't window shopping. I had a car in mind and was prepared to do what I could to get the car THAT DAY.
When I first arrived, the assumed owner and salesman, Mike, wasn't even in the office. That was fine, though, as this shop seemed to be run by only two people and the man that was there was very polite and genuine, offering myself and my companion water while we waited. We ended up waiting for this Mike for just shy of 10 minutes. When Mike did show up with some Wendy's fast food in tow, both my companion and myself instantly felt uncomfortable. He simply looked at us with no greeting while the other man introduced us as the people looking to buy the before-mentioned car. I attempted to make light of the situation in case he felt bad for making us wait by apologizing for our poor timing, when suddenly he starts talking to his partner about some random other car. Then he turns to us and starts in on OUR car by asking how much of a down payment we would like to put on the car. We hadn't even driven the car yet!
The rest of the charade that was that establishment was heavily laced with eye rolls, patronizing tones, and rhetorical questions. This may have been my first time buying a car from a privately owned company, but I had never before seen such a complete lack of respect. Over all, if I could give this place 0 stars I could. Perhaps the only saving grace was the man that greeted us that was nothing but polite while we were there. Unfortunately, this man is not the salesman. If he was, perhaps this slummy business would fare better.
