 | - This used to be one of my favorite places to go on the weekends when I lived in Plaza Midwood area. When I moved to another city and we came back to visit, this was my go-to place. I don't know why I never wrote a review because I really like the dim sum here. And this place has definitely undergone some changes since we lived here before - an updated interior that looks cleaner and new owners, apparently.
Unless something has changed, you can order dim sum from the menu on weekdays, but on the weekends they have the carts. This is my favorite because you can see what they're offering and make a decision that way. They have some pretty dumplings (I like their shrimp ones in particular) and meat dishes, but two things in particular are my go-to dishes. Their sticky rice is hands down my favorite rice dish ever. I like that it's a little sweet, has little bits of flavorful meat in the middle, and has a terrific flavor to it from the lotus leaf it's wrapped in. The sesame bun is my other favorite. The texture is light and the filling is a little sweet and nutty from the sesame. We like to try interesting things, which are sometimes a miss for us, but overall most of their dishes we have tried are good. The only problem is that it is so easy to find yourself with too many dishes and end up with a large bill if you don't watch it.
When we came on around noon on a Saturday, the carts started coming quickly and the food on them was plenty warm and fresh. It wasn't too busy so the service was pretty good. Everyone was friendly and we had a good experience. I'm not sure how good the service is when they get busy, as I generally come when I know it's less busy.
I really like Dim Sum, particularly when they have the cart out on the weekend.
