  • Did we drive an hour from Milwaukee to stay in Madison primarily to try this restaurant? Maybe :). Cutest place from the outside, and very quaint and cozy inside. Decorated to the max with owl statues, pictures, figurines, and pretty wood and kelly green walls. We came at about 7:00 on a Tuesday and had a twenty minute wait, which we spent at the bar. We noticed all of the liquors they make themselves and I was so tempted to get a cocktail! We were finally seated a bit after 7:30. They were super short staffed- it's a small place, so there was one waitress and one bartender/waitress. The menu is pure glory for a vegetarian/vegan. We started with the Devil Wings; TOLY TOLEDO they were phenomenal. The texture of the "nuggests" was so chicken-y and it shredded just like real chicken. The sauce was authentic buffalo, spicy and vinegary. 10/10 for those fantastic wings! We ordered three sandwiches to try (yes, we took a bunch home!). The Madison Philly with seitan. A great hearty sandwich, but I have had more flavorful phillies. 7/10. The cajun blackened tofu sandwich was really delicious. The lemon blackened tofu cutlet was very flavorful and we loved the toasty ciabatta roll. 8/10. Now the best for last! The Southwest Filet sandwich. Sounds boring, right? WRONG! The breaded unchicken filet had the most fantastic texture and flavor. When we were still eating meat, we used to love "chicken on a stick" from Chinese takeout restaurants. Well, they hit the nail on the head with this unchicken filet. We adored the flavor and the texture. This sandwich was definitely a 9/10! For the sides, we had the roasted potatoes, crispy kale, and quinoa salad. The BF said the quinoa tasted "like barf. The kale was super crispy, spicy, but a tad too salty. The roasted potatoes were delicious and perfect with some herbs and spice. We will absolutely be coming back to try the rest of the menu because it is so tempting. The jambalaya, schnitzel, and desserts are waiting for us to try!
