| - First of all, I am still relatively new to Elite events and have very few experiences to go off of. I do, however, regularly attend general Yelp events and have to say that as an exclusive Elite only event, this was a HUGE disappointment.
The original date for the event was changed, which immediately set me up with a poor taste in my mouth. As most of us are working professionals, it is already challenging to get to downtown during rush hour for 6pm, but to then change the date last minute makes it even more difficult if you have previously made arrangements so that you can attend the event on time. Strike one.
Arriving at the venue, it appeared to be very glitzy and glamorous, which was a great change of pace from what I expected. We were handed two drink tickets and instructed to "hang out at the bar" with no real indication of what was going to happen. While we didn't have any issues with the bartender as some people did, we were desperately disappointed in the drinks. The sangria tasted like water and the daiquiri was basic. Strike two.
We found a small two person table at the side of the bar, wondering where exactly they would seat us for food. To our surprise, there wasn't enough seating for everyone invited and it was just a free for all. Really unprofessional. When the chef and manager(?) arrived to say their piece about Fl. 2, it was impossible to hear them. The chef quickly addressed the food samples that were placed at the end of the bar, which only included one vegetarian option, and was followed up by the manager stating that we were only to take two of each. Which meant two for me, period. There was hardly enough food to go around and people were clearly disappointed in the lack of flavor, amount, and variety. The chickpea app was decent, and I ultimately ate the salmon poke, which was severely lacking in flavor. Extremely unimpressed with the food, which was not even listed on the menu. The manager did not have much to say about Fl. 2 and did not appear excited about having to be with us. She also spoke about her previous time at Habitat, how she left for 8 months, and then came back when she found out something new was replacing it. Ooookkkaaayyyy, odd. Strike three, four, and five.
Overall, I was left unimpressed, underwhelmed, and hungry after this event. Rachel has historically done a fantastic job at arranging events and I do not believe the blame can fall directly on her shoulders. Fl. 2 appeared to lack to desire, space, and ability to cater to our larger crowd and I would be hard pressed to return here again for any reason.
