Good grief! This place has given me so many problems! My last review was posted on 6/16/17 (2 months ago) but that wasn't the end of the problems. In my last post, Advanced Vision Institute promised to mail the glasses to me. I waited a week and half but they never arrived so I called and learned that they forgot to mail them. I waited again and they finally arrived at my house.
Right off the bat, I noticed that I had a hard time reading with the bifocals. I tried to adapt to them but I couldn't read more than 40 minutes without getting headaches and blurry vision. I made a follow-up appointment 6 weeks ago but unfortunately my dog died the day before so I didn't go to the appointment. Two weeks later, my last dog died so I wasn't in a good place to be checking out my glasses. I finally made an appointment for today. Two days ago, I got a phone call from AVI and they said my insurance didn't cover the appointment. I said that it was only a follow-up so I didn't think that it needed insurance. The lady on the phone said ok.
Today, I went the appointment and they took my glasses to check the prescription. After waiting about 30 minutes the first desk lady said we needed to review the charges. I was surprised b/c I didn't think there would be any charges for a follow-up. She said b/c several months had passed since the exam that there would be a follow-up charge. I was upset b/c I couldn't afford it and also no one told me prior to the appointment that there was a charge. I wouldn't have made the drive and wasted my afternoon if I had known in advanced. I immediately ask for my glasses back but they made me wait an additional 10 minutes b/c they were still looking at the prescription.
Finally, a tall, polite gentleman came out and said the prescription was correct and that maybe there's an issue with my eye alignment but they couldn't determine it without a follow-up exam. I told him that I couldn't afford it.
I left without a resolution and very humiliated b/c I am too poor to afford the needed help. I wouldn't have been in this situation if someone had mentioned the additional expense when they called a few days ago!
I won't use AVI again! They have too many problems with the competency of their staff. On a final note, they were always professional and polite but it doesn't make up for all the problems.
