  • Where to start is right. Lee, the owner, is unbelievably rude and downright stupid. I, too, had a Groupon and phoned several times before he actually answered (no answering machine). He started yelling at me the second I said the word "Groupon". He told me he had to charge me a ten dollar per ride "booking fee" which I immediately said absolutely not! This was when he really lit into me about "you people never show up" and "you people just want something for nothing", etc, etc.... I assured him that we would be showing up and tried to be kind, telling him I understood how frustrating that must be but you can't just lump me into a group because I have a Groupon. He then proceeded to yell some more and said "you better show up or else....". Really? Or else what? After I sarcastically thanked him for being so kind and helpful, he hung up on me. Fast track to yesterday when, yes, we showed up for our ride. Lee was checking in a party ahead of us (who also had Groupons) and seemed to be in fairly good spirits. As much as I wanted to get into it with him right away, we put on our happy faces and proceeded with the check in. Then it all went to shit when he said "you know, you're going to have to pay me the 9.5% tax on this total. Umm, no I'm not. That is not how this works, Lee. I have bought many, many Groupons and have never had to pay tax on the purchase when I redeem. (Aren't internet sales tax exempt?). He turned into a raging bull at this and told me I was so stupid, that anything you buy in Arizona is taxed and if he doesn't charge the tax, he could get in "big trouble". I told him I was not paying any tax and didn't have my wallet anyway. He proceeded to basically call me every name in the book and insult my daughter and I repeatedly (Good thing he didn't go after my granddaughter or I literally would have beat his ass). He also again used threatening language and told me I should "thank my lucky stars....". As we went to wait for for our horses, he turned his fury on his ranch hands, two nice women that were doing a great job of getting 10 horses ready to ride. He had one of the women in tears. We did have a very nice ride with the two lady guides and the location was beautiful. The horses were very well behaved and lovely to ride. When we returned, Lee promptly started in on us again with his snide and rude comments. We didn't even stick around long enough to take photos with the horses. Literally just wanted to get the hell away from Lee. Granted the guy is an old school cowboy who clearly is stuck in 1950, but as I repeatedly told him, no one is forced to run a Groupon. It was his choice and, sorry( not sorry), but it's his problem, not mine. I wish the two kind guides the best of luck working for this....person. Hopefully he'll retire (soon) and sell the business to someone who could make it such an exceptional stable and trail ride facility. Maybe someone with some business savvy and people skills. Screaming and yelling at your customers does not a happy experience make! So, in conclusion. If you want to purchase and use a Groupon here either forget it, or don't mention the Groupon until you get there. But then you are going to "get it"! And finally....that bowl of Chili that's suppose to be included i the Sunset Ride. Fugetaboutit! Not going to happen.
