| - I think I found my new late night hangout!
Short and sweet version: I'm most impressed with the decor and layout of the store. They're open late and service is great! The food and drinks are ok, but I'm willing to return and try some more.
The menu is extensive, Tea of Joy offers plenty of tea drinks and boba options. They have some coffee as well, such as Vietnamese or the typical. The pastries are displayed well and look tasty.
Let's get to the food and drinks, they're satisfying enough. I can see why people comment about some flavors not tasting natural. We tried various macarons (5), lavender milk tea and a cake. The macarons are ok, a little expensive for the quality ($2 a pop, but the flavors don't taste as natural as others I've had.) I've seen other places offer a small discount for purchasing 5 macarons, which would be nice to see here. The tea was good enough, I've had better lavender tea elsewhere that tastes real rather than synthetic. I do like the amount of sugar option, I ordered half the sweet and it was made perfect. The Vietnamese Sponge Cake was the best of what we ordered, a happy accident of ours. We thought it was a sweet cake but it turned out to be (deliciously) savory, it has tender pork rolled into the sponge cake. This makes me want to come back and try the Bulgogi fries.
This is definitely a place I'd like to hang out or get work done. The attention to detail with the tables and decor is my favorite, I love the vibe. The inside seating area is smaller but still accommodating. The outdoor seating is plentiful, and they're pup friendly. Service was great, they were patient with my questions and made recommendations as well.
In the end, it's definitely worth more visits :)
