| - I just moved into a high rise and was interested in buying DirectTV. I went to Costco (they offer a $200 gift card when you sign up there), and they quoted me a plan and certain prices, but was then told that there was an issue and I needed to call DirectTV directly. Called DirectTV, and they priced me out the exact same (plus the refer-a-friend $50 promotion), but told me since I live in a Multiple Dwelling Unit, Bel Air Internet is the exclusive provider and I have to go through them.
Called them everyday for a week on my way to work in the morning. They usually did not answer, and the two times they did, I was on hold for over 15 minutes that I just hung up when I got to work. They called me back maybe twice hours later which I could not answer, and when I would call back, same story and no answer. This was an unfortunate cycle as they are not open for calls on the weekends.
When I finally was able to speak to someone, they quoted me atypical numbers from what I was told by Costco and DirectTV. Additionally, they would not offer the refer-a-friend promotion and said I would be charged for installation of $100 for the genie which I was specifically told would be free by the other two companies. I asked to speak to a supervisor (again was on hold for about 15 minutes), and the supervisor was rude and was indifferent to my discussions. She said they are not required to honor the new customer promotions of DirectTV. I said well "you're about to lose a customer" and she said "oh well."
Unfortunately, my building only offers DirectTV and when I grew impatient of not having television for two weeks, I succumbed to the terrible customer service and called back to purchase the overpriced plan from a company that I terribly did not want to give my business. However, they have a stronghold on my building and they know it, so I was left with no other choice.
That being said, Mario was the technician who came to my place. He was professional, courteous, and punctual. But I do not recommend Bel Air Internet if you have the choice.
