Came here in the summer to join (rescue) a friend of mine whose Tinder date had been crashed by a bevy of his raucous out-of-town friends. I didn't know what to expect so late in the evening, but found the bar was a perfect level of busy- lively, but roomy enough that even as a group of 6 we were able to snag 2 or 3 stools and standing room without feeling like sardines.
First thing I noticed (other than the metallic pineapple and Talking Heads-nod that adorn the window front) was how insanely nice/attentive the staff were. The decor mixed with the ~good vibes~ makes for a kind of fun and quirky, yet really laid back atmosphere. Definitely conducive to a fun night with friends, or a cute date... or awkward combinations of the two.
Tinder-guy bought over a round of drinks, claiming he had simply asked the bartender for something "fruity and refreshing". Amazing cocktails- an admittedly vague request prompted some seriously delicious concoctions. I had been eyeing their beer selection (pretty limited), but am so glad I chose to forgo ordering one. Why you'd want to drink beer here is beyond me. But you totally could. The staff and patrons seemed friendly and wholly unpretentious, a concept that is as refreshing as the drinks, if not more so.
Overall, the night (and Tinder date) was salvaged by what really did prove to be "the place". Haven't been back since, but for the life of me can't work out why. Making a point to take some gal pals there ASAP.
