I went to this museum while visiting Pittsburgh after hearing about their renowned collection of dinosaur skeletons. Being a dinosaur geek I had to check it out. Jurassic Park has been my favorite movie since I was little and I thought this was the next best thing to being in Jurassic Park. They really do have a great collection of dinosaur skeletons. They had 2 full grown T-Rex skeletons, a juvenile T-Rex, a triceratops, a massive apatosaurus, a stegasaurus, and many others. It was awesome getting to see full sized dinosaurs and stand next to the likes of great giants like apatosaurus as if you were standing next to them while they were still living. Honestly their dinosaur collection was much greater than that at the Smithsonian in DC. Though I will admit that the Smothsonian had a better mummy collection than Carnegie but I came here for the dinosaurs. Another cool highlight of this museum was getting to touch a piece of mars that fell to Earth as a meteorite. This museum has a lot of great displays to walk through and it is very good sized. This museum is combined with the Carnegie Museum of Art as well *admission includes both). If you go after 3 PM (they close at 5) admission is half off and if you show a student ID its even cheaper. I payed like $6 admission and that includes two world class museums! However, going at 3 PM for the reduced admission price only leaves you 2 hours to see stuff so don't expect to even get close to seeing everything if you go that route. If you're planning on going 2 hours before closing you best head straight for the stuff you really want to see the most. Overall, a great museum and a must see while visiting Pittsburgh if you're into this kind of stuff.
