  • This review is for the Samba Hour (aka Happy Hour, available only at the bar: Sunday-Friday: 4-7 pm & 11 pm til close). Located inside the Palazzo Hotel, my husband and I came by here last Friday for the happy hour around 5:20 pm for a light meal before heading out for a night on the town. There were plenty of seats available at the bar and so we just sat ourselves. We were immediately greeted by a friendly bartender (unfortunately I do not remember his name) who took good care of us during our dining experience. We ended up ordering: Classic Mojito, $6 prior to tax- I like mojitos because of that mint flavor. Unfortunately this mojito was missing sugar and had a bitter taste. I probably wouldn't order this again, but I finished this drink anyway (why would I waste perfectly good alcohol?). Kirin, $5 prior to tax- I am not a beer lover, but my husband liked his drink. Salt & Pepper Squid, $6 prior to tax- This salt and pepper squid had a nice salted flavor and the squid had a nice easy chew. Wagyu Gyoza, (with kabocha puree & su- shoyo dipping sauce) $6 prior to tax- Our bartender recommended we try this because these dumplings are made of wagyu beef. The beef was tender and flavorful but unfortunately this little dish came with only 3. Loved the kabocha puree and wished I had more of it. It was really nice of a bit of savory sweetness to these small dumplings. Spicy Tuna Roll, $6 prior to tax- Fresh tasting, really liked the sauce on top of each piece of spicy tuna. Yellowtail Scallion roll, $11 prior to tax- So simple, yet very fresh tasting and absolutely delicious. Amazonia, $6 prior to tax- This roll is very vegetarian (and vegan) friendly and rather unique. When I read the description (Swiss chard, portobello mushroom, takuwam, cucumber, avocado, wasabi- onion soy) I thought I would order it just to see how it would taste. And I am glad I did because it ended up being one of my favorites of what we ordered. Each roll is covered in Swiss chard, filled with all of the ingredients listed on the menu. -------------------------- (Total=$46 prior to tax) The bartender that was the main person who took care of our orders and such was quite friendly. He is from Hawaii and so we were talking with him the whole time about that. It has been a while since my husband and I have been to both Oahu and the Big Island and so it was nice to talk about the surf and the amazing restaurants there. Somewhere in our conversation, he had asked what brought us here to Las Vegas and I told him that we were celebrating my birthday early. And so towards the end of meal, he made both of us a special complementary drink for my birthday. This drink was pretty strong and rather enjoyable. It had a nice light flavor of cucumber, ginger and lemon. This bartender did not have to go that extra mile to really start our evening just that extra special, but he did. And because of this bartender, I will make sure to come back to Sushi Samba again on our next visit to Las Vegas.
