  • When looking back at the birth of my daughter I will always remember what a disappointment Mercy Gilbert Hospital was. We had our child at Mercy Gilbert in June and could not have been less impressed. Celeste in Labour and Delivery was wonderful and I sincerely hope she finds work with a more professional organization. We got there while my wife was in labor and I am holding a sleeping 3 year old. They told us to go fetch a wheelchair (she pointed the general direction) and didn't even bother helping a woman in labor who was clearly in pain, up to the 3rd floor. 4 days later, after our paperwork was done, it took over an hour to find us a wheelchair for discharge. Our room was small, certainly not worth the prices they charge and 2 of the nurses (not Celeste!) were extremely condescending. We felt very uncomfortable with they way we were treated by them. One nurse even had the nerve to tell my wife she should be able to do it on her own when she requested assistance going to the restroom after her surgery. She did not help my wife at that time so I assisted her. Prices are out of this world and they prey on patients to nickle and dime them to death for every move they make. Even the nurses seem to be aware of it. When we asked for extra Cordron Tape for her wound we were told it would cheaper to find it elsewhere and the hospital declined to provide the tape requested even though they wrote the prescription and clearly had it as they used it for our stay. Total cost of their services exceeded 30k for a normal c-section with no complications. Having a child is one of the most important times of your life and the last thing you want is to be treated like a number or a bother. I would not recommend Mercy Gilbert to anyone. The sad part is that this seems to be the norm with our healthcare. Truth be told this place is probably considered top notch which is disturbing.
