| - Every time I shop here, I swear I'll never do it again. I'll simply share today's experience...
Today was a busy day, and I needed something quick to get on the table for dinner. My daughter suggested meatloaf. Trader Joes sells a delicious heat and serve turkey meatloaf, but I didn't want to take the extra time to drive across town to the nearest TJs. I remembered that Sprouts makes regular meatloaf that you bake at home, so we drove over to get some. I didn't see it at the meat counter or in the meat cooler, so I returned to the counter to ask an employee. There were about 5 or 6 employees standing around in the sandwich area chatting while I waited to try to catch someone's eye. (The was no one standing directly by the meat/seafood counter at this time.) No luck. Finally, after a few moments, I spoke up with a "Hello" and got the attention of a few workers. I asked about the meatloaf, and they all stared at me blankly, as if they had no idea how they could possibly help. Finally, one guy said, "let me see if we can find it." At this time, the meat counter worker came out of the back and the first guy asked him if they had meatloaf today. He simply said, "no." So the first guy says, "oh well; sorry." And that was that. No, "is there anything else we can help you find" or suggestions for an alternative. No customer service of any kind. So, my daughter and I left to head across the way to Trader Joes. On the way out, I spotted heat and serve turkey meatloaf in the case in front of the sandwich counter. It looked the same size and relative price as the one I buy at TJ's. It was $7.99. I gently pulled aside the cardboard sleeve that was completely covering the plastic container to see what it was like and was stunned. The tray was 2/3 empty with a piece of meatloaf the size of a small hamburger and a packet of tomato sauce. For $7.99! (Trader Joes is a full container/entire meatloaf--with no scary ingredients--for $6.99.) Needless to say, we left and drove over to to TJ's and enjoyed their $6.99 meatloaf with plenty of leftovers too! Between the complete lack of customer service---I could share with you at least a dozen stories like this--and the ridiculously deceptive price-gauging they do on a regular basis, this store is a sorry excuse for a neighborhood market!
p.s. If you do shop here, watch out for the fruit flies they always seem to have swarming around their produce!
p.p.s Imo, the standard scripted reply below further emphasizes the lack of actual customer service at Sprouts; it has all the sincerity and warmth of a computer. Why bother?
