  • I took my mother here last night for Christmas Eve dinner and let me tell you this place is AMAZING!!! It's a climb straight up 1800 feet to a beautiful view of the city! Usually places with a view like this rest on their laurels in terms of the food and service (see my review of Rustler's Roost) but this was incredible! We arrived a tad late and were greeted by a very professional Host who may have been one of the managers. The dining room is tiered so there are no tables without a view. Obviously the closer to the window is slightly better but i don't think any of the tables will disappoint. We started with a cocktail and we shared the lobster bisque (the absolute BEST I have ever tasted) and the pork belly which was also delightfully decadent! Mom chose the pork tenderloin which was perfectly cooked medium well and served on a walnut bread with turnips, brussels sprouts with parsnip puree and a wonderful BBQ sauce with chopped apples. Delish! I had the strip loin rare and it was melt in your mouth perfect, served with some veg I don't recall because I was so blown away at the incredible wood grilled flavor the meat had. Arguable the best steak I have ever been served in a restaurant. Basically I would've gone into the kitchen and done a slow clap for the crew but I didn't want to risk being put to work in the dish pit! Our server had just been awarded a 30 year pin for his long service and I can see why they have kept him on so long: he was polite, informative about the menus but not at all trying to up sell which I appreciate. He wasn't overly attentive which is a quality I find irritating, being over serviced is almost worse than under. All in all a true pro and would love to be seated in his section when my wife and I dine there. We shared the creme brûlée which was the only dish that was just good but not great. The crust was perfect but the custard was too firm and not quite sweet enough. It tasted like creme brûlée one might be served at Rustler's Roost. Not bad, just not quite up to par on the rest of the food. But still, we left completely satisfied, and have been gushing to our family members on the phone today (being Christmas Day) about the wonderful experience we had. I am so glad I finally made to this place and will definitely be going again soon!
