I was a patient here for over 2 years and came in semi-annually for cleanings/exam. I have never had major cavity issues - maybe 5 in my whole life (I am 30 yrs old). I should mention that I am self-employed and do not have dental insurance; which apparently to Dr. Shim meant he can try to scam me and make some money. I went for a cleaning/x-ray's in August and was told I had 4 small cavities that I needed filled. Seemed strange to me since I was there 6 months prior with no issues. I received an estimate for almost $1200 to get 4 SMALL cavities filled!!! Needless to say, I did not return.
One of my clients referred me to a new dental office this week (which had much more advanced x-ray and imaging systems) and I was told I have no cavities and my teeth are great!! My new dentist saw nothing on the x-rays to indicate cavities in the areas Shim had tried to convince me needed to be filled. She pointed out one minor area that she would keep an eye on, but said she wouldn't consider filling at this point.
Bottom line, apparently since I don't have dental insurance, Dr. Shim doesn't have to prove anything to anyone and thought he would try to take advantage of me and unnecessarily drill into 4 of my teeth. Shame on you, Shim!!
