Why 5 Stars this time? Quite simply, "DA BURGER" (Chicago accent and all)! Speaking with the Chef, he said that they switch up their burger mix all the time, depending on what the Butcher has "left." Don't worry, I don't believe (I HOPE!) they use beef testicles, tongue, or other "offal" parts......but they do use high quality cuts to make a VERY delicious, juicy burger that has never failed to please my palate!
They cook it however you want it, and I'm a medium kind of guy. So a few minutes later, out it came. The beauty of Reids is that you watch them cook right in front of you as the "kitchen" is in a VERY small space, so there is absolutely NOTHING tto hide! They can try but they just can't do it!
They offer you up a side of chips (store bought like Lays), potato salad, cole slaw, and a really good black eyed pea salad (don't judge, get it - yes, it's that good and I'm not a black eyed peas kindof guy!). This time I got the chips (bad choice - I SHOULD have listened to my future review and gotten one of their in-house made selections. Oh well.
The burger was SO DAMNED GOOD though that unless they served Cat Turd as a side, I would have given this review 5 stars anyway!
They have a REALLY good and well selected wine list. I got a Cali red, but.....upon further review, they had a Saint Bris from Burgundy. What's so special about this? Well, the Sommolier in me said, "huh, wait, they have a Sauvignon Blanc FROM BURGUNDY!" Now I know what you're thinking....Burgundy = Chardonnay. Right? Well, ME TOO! But NOT when a Saint Bris is on it. That will most likely be a Sauvignon Blanc. Now I did NOT get a glass of it, I did pick up 2 bottes, for posterity sake!
All in all this was yet another GREAT meal at Reids!
