Bought a Polaris cleaning system to replace my old one. They touted their 1-year warranty. The price was higher than I could get elsewhere, but I know these things break down, so I wanted warranty service.
Less than a year later, I brought it in for a check-up (as they advised). They said it would be done it two days. It wasn't. Took almost a week, in the middle of Monsoon season.
Then today, I went to replace the back-up valve on the Polaris (it was cracked through normal wear/tear). Before I went, I found it on Amazon for $56 delivered in two days. B&L wanted $99.
I understand it's a small local business, and normally I would spend a few extra dollars to support places like this. But I couldn't see myself spending over $40 extra just to keep them in business.
