  • If you are here wondering if you should use One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating, the answer is NO. One Hour is not an honest or fair company. The prices are exorbitant and the technicians are really just pushy salesmen in a yellow uniform. My own personal experience is as follows: Back in 2011 during an epic Phoenix summer heatwave our A/C broke. Being new homeowners (and not knowing any better) we called One Hour to come and take a look. The (very nice) technician attempted to fix the problem and failed. For a variety of reasons we decided to buy a new unit. $10,000 later we thought we were at the end of our A/C woes. Expensive? Yes. But, we were desperate and naive with it being a crazy heatwave and having a small child in the home. We choked down the $10,000 bill and moved on. Over the last 2 1/2 years we have taken excellent care of our unit. Faithfully scheduling it's yearly summer "check up" and we always have our thermostat set to a reasonable temperature. Last year, Feb 2013, we noticed an issue with the condenser when the heater would run. My husband called a technician and he gave us a vague explanation of the problem and told us it would cost $800 to fix it. Whenever we challenged his diagnosis with our knowledge of HVAC systems he would change what he thought the problem was. He pushed for us to agree to the repair that *might* fix our problem citing that he would waive the $70 service call fee if we signed. Because a waived $70 fee is such a bargain compared to $800. We did not sign. Sent that tech on his merry way. And have never. Ever. Called One Hour again. Got a second opinion from another company. Guess what? Everything was fine. And our A/C performed normally ALL summer long. A year later our blower motor dies. Obviously we did not call One Hour. But, I find it odd that a unit that is a mere 2 1/2 years old has such an epic fail. I'm starting to think that perhaps One Hour sold us a lemon. Lemon or no lemon, One Hour is not a company that I would trust. I don't feel that the technicians (salesmen) are honest. Convoluted "issues" & inflated prices are what you will get when you do business with One Hour. Don't let the little surgical shoe booties that they wear in your home make you think that they care about anything more than getting the most money out of your wallet!
