Yelp being my go to when we are visiting and since we wanted to eat in the old Downtown part of Las Vegas I pulled out my trusty phone. Lots of five star reviews so yay, this sounded great. Used Open Table to make a reservation and on a weekend it's a must. We got there a bit early and the hostess said they'd text us when our table was ready so we went across the street to put some money in the slots. They texted us and off we went.
It's a very old building, lots of brick, old world charm and very noisy since the sound bounces off the walls. Unless you want to yell, don't bother with conversation.
They are known for their steaks although they do have other things for the non-beef eaters. Everyone said the portions were huge so we opted to just have a main course with no salad or appetizers. Smart move unless you are sharing everything.
The server started by bringing warm bread with butter and a little seasoned oil. Very nice. My husband had a steak and I had lamb chops which I love and can't get often. He said he steak was just ok although it was large. Sides were a pool of mashed potatoes and a side of broccoli rabe overcooked to the point of being limp.
My chops were so tough I could hardly cut them even with a sharp knife. I had asked for no starch and could I have an extra side of veggies. Certainly the server said but we have to charge you unless you want extra of what we serve. So I ordered sauteed spinach which was the high point of my meal. My broccoli was also cooked to the point of being limp.
I've read all the reviews and keep wondering if we went to the same restaurant. We certainly wouldn't recommend it based on our meal.
