  • If I had written my review 2 weeks ago, I would have rated RPM a 5-star. My husband and I live in High Park and have active lifestyles. He bikes outside, and I run outside and train for marathons, and hold a Goodlife membership where I like to do BodyPump and BodyCombat classes with my friends. We come about 2 to 3 times a month on Sunday mornings for spin class with Magz in the winter. She is a really good spin instructor (her rating is 5-stars!) Recently, they took advantage of our willingness to show commitment to RPM as our drop in gym. We purchased about $275 worth of points. Each spin class is 6 points. By purchasing points, each class ends up being a few dollars cheaper than paying as you go. 2 weeks after we purchased these points, I received a shocking email from RPM that they are cancelling and not going to honour these points anymore. Instead, they unilaterally applied your existing points to a monthly membership. Ie. our $275 worth of points, which would normally have lasted well over a year (keep in mind that we come only during the winter), would only last 2.5 months now for ONE person. There was also no option for refund. After a lengthy phone conversation, they begrudgingly offered to convert our points to a punch card, but not before making many excuses that made me feel like I was the one who was wrong. It would have been nice if the person selling us the points 2 weeks ago (which I think was one of the managers), would have told us that they were planning on converting to this new system. The worst part is that they are putting an expiry of 8 months to use these classes by the end of the year. The points we invested in did not have an expiry date and that was the beauty of it. I feel forced to have to finish my classes now, and I hate being forced to do anything. The person I was speaking with made many assumptions, saying things like, "I'm sure you will come to 16 classes by the end of the year". I'm sorry, but you don't know me, and my workout schedule. I feel tricked, betrayed and super ripped off. We used to like RPM because it was our neighbourhood spin studio with neighbourhood values but this kind of action now makes it feel like one of those "big chain" gyms that sucks you in with a good introductory offer and makes it impossible to leave.
