| - So initially I had booked a room at the Marriott in downtown Montreal. Upon realizing that I will probably spend a grant total of 1 hour a day at the hotel (besides sleeping), I decided it was a complete waste of money and I should spend it on better things (clothes).
So I was checking different discount hotel booking websites and noticed one on Hotwire for $68. It said some of the hotels that they offer for this price are The Holiday Inn Express, Travelodge, Days Inn, Comfort Inn etc. So I figured these hotels are pretty decent, and I just went for it and booked it. I was a bit disappointed because I had my fingers crossed for the Holiday Inn, but whatever, I'm only spending a few hours there anyway!
My room was nothing like I wanted it to be. It was 2 double beds with about 2 feet of walking space between the beds and the desk. I called hotwire about it to ask them for a different room because I wanted more space so I could do pilates in my room. Turns out the deal is that if you select a room for 2 (which I did), they just have to guarantee the room sleeps 2 people. Fine, whatever, it was $68.
The beds were very very comfortable. Definitely up there with any other 5 star hotel, and I mean, that's all that matters when you're going to be there just to sleep. The people at the front desk weren't exactly polite (with the exception of one) and didn't seem willing to help when I was asking questions about the metro and the bus. At one point I went down and asked for conditioner and was given lotion instead, I was delighted to find that out after getting out of the shower and realizing my hair felt disgusting.
The location was amazing. Very close to 2 different metro stations and easy to get around. For $68 it was completely worth it. Would I pay full price? God no. Did I get my money's worth? Yes. It was perfect for what I needed. Would recommend if you're planning on traveling to Montreal and are hoping to spend most of your time outside of a hotel room.
