  • This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. My boyfriend and I were in town for Super Bowl festivities and booked a room at Motel 6 via booking.com. Typically, we book nicer places to stay, but given how many people were in town for Super Bowl, everything was completely booked. Incidentally, we found out days after booking the Motel 6, they overbooked by 40 reservations, so booking.com had to find us a new location for the night. We explained that we didn't want a hotel that was too far from the stadium since we planned on paying for a cab. Due to limited options, booking.com offered to pay for a parking pass at the stadium for the day of Super Bowl and booked us a room at Crossland Economy Studios, only 10 miles from the stadium. Apparently, there was another Motel 6 that was even closer to the stadium than the one we had originally booked, but the representative at booking.com told us that location has bad reviews and wanted to put us somewhere better. REALLY?! This hotel has 1 star reviews! If I had to choose between two horrible places, I would choose the one closer to the stadium. Plus, this place is located in a bad part of town. We finally arrived at Crossland Economy Studios around 11:30 pm. There was no one working the front desk at the time, so we had to wait a few minutes for someone to help us. We checked in with ease, though the front desk clerk wasn't exactly personable. At the time, we didn't really care because we were so tired. We relocated our car closer to our room and unloaded all of our belongings by the front door, only to find out that our key didn't work. I called the front desk clerk from my cell phone and she told me to come back to the front desk for a new key. I explained that we had already unloaded our stuff and asked if the security guard could bring us a new key so we didn't have to pack everything up again. She hung up on me! Frustrated, I decided to sit there with all of our bags while my boyfriend went back to the front desk. He requested two keys just in case one didn't work again, but both didn't work! The security guard tried using his key that is supposed to unlock every room at the hotel and even that didn't work. In the end, he had to use a regular key to get the door open. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke. We told the security guard that we refused to stay in this room when we requested a non-smoking room. He had the nerve to point to the non-smoking sign on our door and say, "It says non-smoking." Are you kidding me? I don't care WHAT the room's sign specifies. If the room smells like smoke, give us a new room. He then showed us a different room that didn't smell like smoke, but told us it wasn't even available! What was the point of showing us?! To make matters worse, this guy leaves and comes back with a bottle of spray, suggesting it would fix the problem in the original room. My boyfriend told him that the spray would only mask the smell of the smoke and we didn't want to be inhaling secondhand smoke all night. The rude front desk clerk basically told us that she couldn't do anything else for us. My boyfriend and I decided it was time to call booking.com and have them find us another hotel. We went back and forth with booking.com, waiting for them to call the hotel we were at to find out what was going on, etc. We ended up finding out that booking.com is completely useless as they will not transfer your money to a new hotel or accommodate you if you get screwed over. They offered a maximum refund of $50 when we paid over $200 for our room (inflated price due to Super Bowl). There was no manager at this hotel, so they couldn't assure us that we wouldn't be charged for the room even if we cancelled and went somewhere else. After booking.com spoke with the front desk clerk, suddenly a new room opened up! In other words, she didn't want to get in trouble so she moved us to a new room. We didn't want to stay here anymore but didn't want to risk not getting a full refund and paying for a new room somewhere else. Once we made the decision to stay, the front desk clerk had the audacity to tell us we had cancelled our reservation and no longer had a room. I called her out and told her she was wrong, as she could not confirm the refund with booking.com. So, she told us to find the security guard to let us in the new room. We didn't even get a key! The new room didn't smell like smoke, but it was gross. Nevertheless, it was almost 2 am and we didn't have the energy to fight any longer. Consequently, we stayed in a room with dirty sheets and counters, hairs all over the bathroom, stains, hole in the wall, broken lampshade, noisy fridge, and a television with no remote that only partially worked. I'm guessing they have bugs too. As for late checkout, they were only willing to give us 30 minutes additional time even though it was their fault that we got to bed so late. To sum it all up, this hotel is foul, completely unprofessional, and should be shut down.
