We enjoy coming to the cracked egg because we live very close and the food is pretty tasty. The plus side of this place is that the restaurant is clean, cozy and has some friendly staff members (all additional to pretty good food).
The downside is the service is lacking a 5 star rating. The hosts are always behind the counter and to busy to always be paying attention. For a restaurant that gets this busy they really need to hire extra staff. I don't view them as rude, because they're doing the best they can. Its just not top customer service. Its normal to see newbies walk in & not know what to do from lack of a greeting.
The waiters/waitresses are very quick- not to chatty. For some this is a plus, so its really a matter of preference. Personally I enjoy a "hello, welcome, how are you?" Type of intro. Especially for first time- menu recommendations, which are always a plus coming from an employee.
The prices seem a bit high to me for what you get. Granted the food is good.. but for a $9-13 omelet I expect a bit more.
I will say their coffee cake is always a hit with us. No matter what the flavor is.
Better than a big time chain breakfast place like IHOP or Denny's but has room to improve. Either way we enjoy eating here.
