  • Horrible experience. Went to Peoria Subaru looking to buy a new 4 door car. Wife liked the legacy while I liked the WRX but after she saw them in person decided the wrx was the nicer car. This is when we were greeted by spencer and everything seemed as normal as anyone can expect. While looking at cars another buyer walked up and asked where another Subaru dealer was because he had been standing outside for awhile and wasn't being helped. Spencer gave him attitude and told him to go inside with attitude, when the man rufused spencer told him they aren't affiliated with another dealer and wouldnt tell him where they are. I looked past this as I was running numbers on cars and payments however it ended up being a foreshadow of my experience to come. We test drove a used wrx and liked the car so we went inside to discuss numbers. Decided with the incentives and how wrx hold their value well that we would go with the new one on the lot. They took a look over my truck and came to an offer that was 8k less then I was offered by a different dealer. When I brought this up he seemed irritated and went to talk to his boss. They took another look at the truck and suddenly found things that were wrong and why they couldn't match that price.. even stating the truck wasn't worth what I was offered. Then why was I offered it? After he left the room a second time he left his computer facing us showing a carfax on my truck that stated it was worth 11k more then their original offer. Another thing I pointed out to him that seemed to anger him. At this point he stopped sitting down and stood over my wife and I while stating what my payment on the wrx would be with what the trade in was worth and what we talked the wrx down to. When I broke down the payment (and removed the apr) it showed that we would be paying 3k more then the sticker 5k more then the OTD price we discussed. When I asked him about this he became enraged and yelled this is math and pointed at his sheet of scribbles to which I pointed at my phone and said this is math too but yours is wrong. He started yelling again at which point I got up and walked out of the dealership. Not another salesman or manager came to ask what was up or tried to stop us from leaving. He did state his uncle owned the Subaru and jeep dealerships so maybe they are use to him acting this way and/or are scared of getting involved in his outbursts. That's fine tho I found somewhere else to buy a car. I would suggest not even wasting your time at this dealership. But if you must, at least avoid Spencer at all costs.
